I Am with You
May 12, 2009
“Fear not, for I am with you.” (Isaiah 41:10)
These words from the prophet Isaiah are deeply reassuring, aren’t they? No matter what we’re facing, it never seems quite as bad if we have someone to walk alongside us and share the experience with us.
Do you know someone who is facing a crisis alone?
...Maybe a sister diagnosed with cancer. ...Perhaps a friend who has lost his job after thirty years. ...A coworker anxiously awaiting the results of medical tests. ...A neighbor who feels lonely and worthless because her arthritis leaves her unable to care for her beautiful garden. ...A father who worries about his teenage son. ...A friend who goes to bed every night not knowing where her husband is or whether he’ll be sober when he does come home.
How is God calling you to reach out, to walk alongside someone who’s going through a tough time? You don’t have to fix the problem. You just need to be there, to listen, and to care.
Jesus has no hands but yours.
