Recalling God's goodness in difficult times

Memory is a great gift. While winter has a strong hold on our nation, we remember that the bitter cold is not constant and will give way to spring at the proper time.
Similarly, if our hearts are cold and indifferent today, we recall the times when we welcomed life and those around us with warmth and concern. Recalling God's continual love, understanding and acceptance gives us the grace to respond similarly and realize that God is always reassuringly close. Today we may need to be that memory for someone else.
This year the Franciscan Sisters of Mary (FSM) observe the 135th Anniversary of our original foundation and the 20th Anniversary of reunification as FSM. As we move into the future, we gratefully remember those women whose faithfulness and actions have moved us to where we are today. The same God who accompanied them journeys with us today.
